If you’re looking for cheap trumpets for sale, great! You’re smart because you want to save money and you know there are some great trumpets available to you at affordable prices.
That said, before you spend any money you should read this article carefully to give yourself the best chance of spending your money on something worth your money because there are a lot of things to look out for when you are specifically looking for something cheap and within a smaller budget.
The first thing to realize is that your dollar can go a very long way – you just have to look in the right places. Some of the best places to find trumpets for sale at a cheap price can be found right under our noses in our own hometown, such as the newspaper, or even craiglist by clicking here.
Craigslist is where I bought my Bach Stradivarius, which only cost about half of the regular price for a used Stradivarius, and I used that trumpet for over 15 years, which is amazing! Here are a few of my favorite tips when looking for cheap trumpets for sale:
1. Cheap Trumpet doesn’t always mean cheap trumpet
In other words, just because a trumpet is priced low, doesn’t mean it’s bad quality. There are many things to look out for when buying a trumpet to make sure it’s good quality, for example: aesthetic condition (looks), brand name (is it a recognizable brand name, or just some generic rip off), and how it plays (actually pick it up and play it – with your own mouthpiece if possible – or at least use spray sanitizer!).
If you find one that looks decent for a decent price, look up other trumpets of the same model and compare the prices. If the prices are similar to the one you’re looking at, then you can be confident that it’s priced decently and there’s nothing wrong with it if the above mentioned qualities all meet your standard.
If the price is really low, it could be for one of two reasons:
- The owner just wants to get rid of it, for whatever reason, and it could absolutely be a steal (meaning, a good thing for you!); ir
- The owner is hiding something, in which case further investigation is required.
To go along those lines, remember…
2. You’re the Buyer, so You’re in Control
You’re the one with the money, so you have the right to ask questions to the owner or seller to make sure your purchase will be worth it for you. If you feel like asking why the price is so low – ask!
If you want to know how long he or she has been playing it, and why they’re selling the trumpet – just ask!
You’re allowed to do that, and if the buyer thinks you’re asking too many questions, then it’s obviously they are hiding something and probably selling it at a low price for some particular reason.
Really, those are the most important things to remember – just don’t pounce on your first “good look” and shop around, because you’ll never know – you could end up with a really nice trumpet for an excellent price because the owner just wants to get rid of it. Good luck to you, and happy trumpet playing!
